Water Theatre

The majestic Water Theatre, in the form of an exedra, constitutes part of the garden’s 17th Century architecture. The main waterfall pours from an artificial grotto made from stone and limestone formations. Higher up on each side, between water jets and wild herbs, two animal sculptures are featured – a lion, symbol of power, and a panther, symbol of the city of Lucca.

The entire structure is enclosed by holm-oak and bay hedges and is embellished with niches featuring statues of the Greek gods Jupiter, Saturn, Adonis and Pomona.

Further down, water flows from five large stone masks, collecting in small, shell-shaped pools. These feed the large semi-circular pool which provides water to all the fountains and streams in the park, flowing down to the Lake via the force of gravity.
